Citizens of San Francisco, have you heard the good news? The Chronicle reports that there is a chance we might get a dusting of snow on Christmas Eve. How much of chance? A tiny one, and this teasing happens almost every winter, but still!

Here's the deal: Golden Gate Weather services meteorologist Jan Null told the paper that there is a "single-digit chance" San Francisco may get a few flakes Saturday morning. "It started showing up on some of the computer models in the first part of the week," she told the paper. "It would be pretty much here and gone. The sun's going to be coming out on Saturday."

Now, it seems like every other year someone says we might get snow in December, and yet the white stuff hasn't actually fallen in any real way in San Francisco since 1976. Snow did accumulate on Mt. Diablo in 2013, but with 3,848 feet of elevation Mt. Diablo is no Dolores Park.

So, should you expect a white Christmas in the Bay Area? Probably not. Can you hope? Sure — there's always a "single-digit chance," after all. But if you want to do more than just cross your fingers, perhaps follow in the footsteps of one unnamed Palo Alto resident who in 2014 had his or her home covered in "trucked in" snow for a holiday party. And then please invite us all over.
