Set in San Francisco, Mrs. Doubtfire has become an iconic film for fans of the late Robin Williams. In the 1993 movie the actor portrayed a down-on-his-luck dad who, in a desperate bid to spend time with his children, pretends to be the eponymous nanny. Now, thanks to some recently unearthed interview footage picked up by Eyes On Cinema, we get a sneak peek into just exactly how Williams came up with the character's memorable accent.

"Now you're talking with a Scottish accent," the unnamed interviewer says to Williams. "Did you invent this?"

"No, Scotland was there way before me," Williams replies before launching into the accent in question. He also mentions that he was working with a Scottish director, and it sounds like he couldn't get that voice out of his head.
