Mission Street ranks a little higher on the festive scale today thanks to a 5,000 balloon art installation above the Mi Ranchito Produce market at 18th Street. According to Jordan Ferney, whose Oh Happy Day business is located above the market, the colorful display was done to celebrate the company's 10th anniversary.

"I never would have dreamed that this little ol' blog I started 10 years ago would grow into a career, a shop, and a team of wonderful people," Ferney wrote on Instagram. "I'm feeling so grateful tonight as we celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Special thanks to my awesome team, @geronimoballoons for this crazy installation, and @alisonpiepmeyer and @paulferney for sticking it out with me."

Hoodline reports that the project was designed by LA artist Jihan Zencirli. Zencirli has done this kind of thing before, and told the publication that she loves how the work changes over time as the balloons deflate. "I actually love them more as they start to break down," she explained. "They look like little jewels on a line, and they fall against the building, like a little adornment. I know it's weird, but I actually prefer it to the inflated balloons."

And while yes, we're sure it looks cool after a few days wear and tear, it sure is pretty now (hey, even Martha Stewart is a fan).
