This will officially be the most San Francisco thing you hear about all weekend.
Artist Laura Halsey Brown is creating hand-drawn psychogeographic art kerchiefs (!) that contain smell maps of the Presidio. And this Saturday and Sunday, she will be handing out said kerchiefs from her multidisciplinary art studio called senseofplace LAB.
See? Told you.
"Just smelling dirt I think is lovely," Brown told CityLab.
The sensory tour is part of senseofplace LAB's current exhibit, Architecture as Pedestal. Those who follow Brown's kerchiefs can wander one of San Francisco's most gorgeous and historical parks while drinking in the scents of dirt, cement, flowers, public restrooms, pure-bred dog poop, and the rare manzanita tree.
Brown's kerchief map will be juxtaposed atop a similar scent map from collaborators in Berlin, which is in Germany and might totally confuse people walking around San Francisco, which is in America.
The exhibit is open from 11-6 all weekend long. Your nose is open 24/7.
