A firefighter suspected by her colleagues of having a secret romantic relationship with a station commander was brutally harassed by her fellow firefighters according to multiple sources to NBC Bay Area. SFFD Station 2, located in Chinatown at 1340 Powell Street at Broadway, is in turmoil after the alleged events, the news channel reports, with two firefighters transferred from the station so far and 10 more set to shift in coming weeks.

The changes are per Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White, who called the alleged actions "egregious." Specifically, "multiple sources" tell NBC Bay Area that firefighters urinated in the woman's bed, and even smeared feces on the wall of the woman's locker room. The alleged harassers were themselves intimidated, they maintain, retaliating to a command to keep secret the supposed relationship.

Changes were made to the station's roster after “the collective conduct of Station 2,” according to a letter sent to about 20 firefighters following a probe. "The city and the fire department have zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination, and retaliation," spokesperson Mindy Talmadge says. A pledge to adhere to the city's sexual harassment policies is now circulating, which the station's firefighters are instructed to sign.
