A man suffering from mental health issues was rescued this morning after he drove his vehicle into Spreckels Lake, a man-made body of water in Golden Gate Park where one is more likely to see model yachts than partially submerged two-ton vehicles.
SFPD tells Hoodline that when they arrived at the scene after receiving a 5:41 a.m. call, the driver was still in his vehicle. Officers broke the car's passenger-side window to remove him and bring him to safety (he's been taken to the hospital).
SFFD, SFPD, and a tow truck were all on hand later in the morning to dredge up the vehicle, Hoodline reports.
