Thoroughly San Francisco, farm-to-bottle craft brewery Almanac Beer Co., which was founded in 2010 by former beer blogger Jesse Friedman along with partner Damian Fagan, will finally be giving us their first taproom and restaurant, complete with beer garden, hopefully by the end of the year. Eater first had word of the project last month, but without an announcement of the location, and now Friedman tells Inside Scoop that it will be in the former Sous Beurre Kitchen space at 2704 24th Street (at Potrero Avenue). It will be called Almanac San Francisco.
Sous Beurre closed in May, and Friedman says he's still in the process of transferring the beer-and-wine license this will be a restaurant and taproom, but they won't be doing any brewing there.
Almanac is well known at this point for their lemony Golden Gate Gose and newer Saison Dolores, which can be found on tap in a number of SF bars and in the cold case at Bi-Rite, as well as for their barrel-aged beers and seasonal sour beers made with farmers' market produce, like the Farmers' Reserve Citrus, and Lavender Honey de Brettaville.
They're hurrying to get the doors open before the end of the year with minimal renovations, and they're promising both beers to go (six packs and growlers), and an eat-in "farm-to-table, San Francisco-inspired menu" of beer-friendly eats.
But they will be renovating the backyard significantly in order to add seating in a beer garden style.
Also, Friedman and Fagan both, who are longtime residents of the neighborhood, say they want the taproom to be "affordable and accessible."
Stay tuned for more.
