A 3.5 magnitude earthquake struck the East Bay early Tuesday morning, reportedly awakening area residents with what was described by some as a "sharp jolt."
According to the US Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was about 1.9 miles from Oakland, with a depth of about 2.48 miles.
It struck at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, spurring "multiple calls from residents in Oakland saying they felt the quake," KRON 4 reports.
“Felt it over here by [Lake Merritt]! 3 miles away,” area resident Alison Kane informed CBS 5.
“Shook the whole apt building. Meanwhile my chihuahua slept soundly, snoring. Guess I can’t rely on him to be a pre-quake alarm.”
“Fruitvale resident Rose Aveey says that her "Cats looked at me like I had something to do with it. Other half was snoring, I tried to wake him up, but I doubt he’ll even remember any part tomorrow.”
ABC 7 reports that the "sharp jolt" was felt from "Pittsburg to San Francisco to Milpitas." Did you feel it? If so, tell the USGS here, then tell us in the comments.
