Just to round out the day with what will hopefully be a happy story, a two-year-old poodle mix abandoned by a dumpster at a Marin County shopping center is in search of a better life with less neglectful owners. Mozzarella, as he's been named because that was the cheese Marin County Humane Society workers used to coax the shy animal out of a dog carrier was discovered in a dirty carrier by a security guard, with no tags and no microchip. As CBS 5 reports, he's "become a favorite with the staffers," and indeed the shelter has posted twice today on Facebook about Mozzarella, including the before and after photos above, once they gave him a much needed bath and a trim.
Below, they have a video before he got his makeover, showing the scared dog emerging from a carrier to take a treat.
If you are interested in adopting Mozzarella, he remains available, and he's just been neutered and vaccinated, and you should call 415-506-6225.
