Plans for a nine-story, skinny hotel are making their way through the planning department. SocketSite reports that the building, designed by architect Charles F. Bloszies, includes commercial space fronting Harrison Street along with a 50-room hotel.

The perhaps future site of the hotel is 744 Harrison Street, which, currently, is home to a two-story concrete building. If the project goes ahead as planned, the block is in for a big change.

Detailed on the submitted project plans, the architect describes the proposed building as "clad with a sheer metal screen that covers and shades the windows but is transparent enough to see through from the inside," before noting that "[although] the form is a simple, slender box, it will look different from different angles and sun conditions."

This proposed infill on a skinny lot is reminiscent of similar plans for turning two narrow Hayes Valley lots into apartments.

This building, if constructed, would also include eight top-floor condos. As we mentioned last December, you should expect to see a lot more of these super-skinny buildings in the future — San Francisco, after all, isn't getting bigger anytime soon.
