Remember the heady days of mid-2014 when a Northern California man named Jeremy Meeks, arrested in Stockton on firearms charges and reputed to be a member of the Northside Gangster Crips in that city, had his dreamy mugshot plastered all over Twitter and Facebook feeds the world over? Well, he was later convicted, a year ago February 19, and sentenced to 27 months in prison with time served, and guess what! His sentence is complete, and he reportedly left prison today, March 9. He now has an Instagram account (naturally), and he posted just yesterday about how he was looking forward to being back out on "the lake with my kids."
Observe:
Meeks, 31, tried to tell the public that he was "no kingpin" after his rise to viral fame, and was arrested as part of a joint ATF/FBI sting in June 2014 in which he was found to be in possession of a semi-automatic handgun and two extended magazines, in violation of his probation from a previous felony conviction. Earlier, he served a two-year sentence for grand theft beginning in 2002.
Those steely blue eyes, pouty lips, and sculptural jawline, however, ought to be illegal, and immediately landed him a modeling agent, even though he was behind bars. As of a year ago, Meeks said he'd be spending his time in prison getting as ripped as possible, doing "a lot of push-ups, pull-ups, dips, burpees" in preparation for a possible modeling and acting career, adding, "I wish I could be on a show like 'Sons of Anarchy.'”
The enduring power of Meeks's looks mean that the news of his release landed on New York Magazine's site, and in the NY Daily News.
And what's this? The sexy felon has a sexy brother who could be his twin?! Oh yes, his brother Emery surfaced among the original Facebook photos of Meeks, as seen here in the Daily Mail.
Meeks allegedly tried to pretend to be his brother when he was arrested for another crime in 2005.
Also, as we learned shortly after his rise to fame, he is married, and has one child with her. Though in the Instagram post above he refers to "kids," plural, so maybe there's another?
Anyway, look for Meeks mania to be dominating feeds in months to come.
