A man who was stabbed in a Tenderloin altercation last week has died, but San Francisco Police Department investigators have yet to officially classify his passing as a homicide, a spokesperson said today.

It was 1:45 a.m. on Monday, January 25th when police say that 29-year-old Joseph Razo was involved in a fight with six men and one woman (all described only as "in their 20s") near Sutter and Taylor streets.

During the altercation Razo was stabbed, police say. He was transported to San Francisco General for treatment of his injuries, but died at the hospital Tuesday evening.

When reached by SFist Thursday morning, a spokesperson with the San Francisco Medical Examiner's office could not yet confirm that his death was a result of the the stabbing, nor did they give a timeline on when a determination of cause of death might be made.

As of Thursday, no arrests had been made in Razo's death, and investigators continue to seek witnesses to the brawl in which he was stabbed.

However, investigators have yet to confirm this death as a homicide, an SFPD spokesperson said this morning. Until they do, that leaves San Francisco's homicide count for the year at one — a fatal domestic violence-related stabbing at UCSF on January 14.
