A 50-year-old woman is recovering today after she was knocked out and robbed during an early-morning basketball game in the Western Addition.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, the woman was playing basketball at a court at Geary Boulevard and Steiner Street at 1 a.m. Tuesday.
Police say that the suspect, described only as between the ages of 17 and 24, entered the park and joined the woman's game. He then, police say, wrapped his arm around her face. His grip was apparently tight enough that "she blacked out and fell."
While she was out, the suspect "ripped off [her] fanny pack and stole money," police say.
The suspect fled on foot, and hasn't been seen since, according to SFPD.
The victim's fingers were injured in the attack, but her injuries weren't significant enough to merit a trip to the hospital.
Police did not have any additional suspect information to provide, but said that no arrests have been made in this case. Have info about this mugging? If so, you know what to do: You can spill the beans to SFPD anonymously at 415-575-4444 or text-a-tip to TIP411 and begin the text with "SFPD."
