The only thing keeping pace with the popularity of Donald Trump seems to be sales of those piñatas modeled after the presidential hopeful — effigies that, when SFist last checked in on them, were selling swiftly. So tomorrow, getting in on the fun and drawing attention to Trump's blatantly racist stance on immigration, the Latino Heritage Fiesta will be bashing the Presidential candidate — literally!

“This month we celebrate Latino culture and our contributions that make this country great," Nancy Charraga, the event's organizer said in a release. "[F]amily, community, strong work ethics, and ingenuity that can transform something negative like Mr. Trump’s comments into a positive cultural celebration."

How's that? As Charraga explains, "every time Mr.Trump opens his insensitive mouth, there is a big surge in piñata sales and due to the handmade nature, Mexican artisans have a hard time keeping up with the demand, transforming Trump’s bombastic comments into economic opportunity demonstrates the resourcefulness of Mexican immigrants.”

The event will be held tomorrow — Saturday, September 19th — at Casa Bonampak. That's 1051 Valencia Street between 21st and 22nd Streets. There, things kick off with a children's piñata full of candy and toys at 2 p.m. Then an adult piñata — stuffed with gift cards, lottery tickets, and straight up cash— meets its fate at 2:15 p.m.

Expect to scramble for donated vouchers from Good Vibrations, Locanda Osteria, The Roxie Theater, Luz de Luna Folkart, Radio Habana Cafe, Ritual Coffee Roasters,Tartine Bakery, Papalote Mexican Grill, and way more. Everyone wants a piece of the action!

Speaking of which, Gavin Newsom isn't waiting for the fiesta to come out swinging on the republican frontrunner. He recently unleashed the following Trump bashing — and although his personal stake isn't totally clear, Matier and Ross speculate at the Chronicle that it has something to do with a hair rivalry.
