A popular Petaluma-based dairy has issued a voluntary recall of their 2% milk.

Clover Stornetta Farms announced on Friday that their 2% milk may contain small pieces of plastic, and is asking customers to return the possibly-affected milk to the stores for a full refund. All the gallons, quarts, and half-gallon containers in the recall would have the expiration date of July 29.

"Clover Stornetta Farms' top priority is the safety of our customers," the company said in a statement. "For this reason we are issuing this voluntary recall out of an abundance of caution."

"I promise you an open and honest dialogue with this voluntary recall," said Clover Stornetta CEO Marcus Benedetti.

Clover says the milk was distributed throughout Northern California.
