In America, where gods of industry are all too literally considered deities, we're still not through contending with the legacy of Steve Jobs.
Products aside, the technology leader's flair for theatrics makes him worthy of film treatment, which he's already gotten once over with Jobs, Ashton Kutcher's 2013 vanity project. This new take is Steve Jobs and stars not Kutcher but Michael Fassbender, who looks as little like Jobs as can be, but surely hopes to carry the role with his on-point mannerisms and delivery.
As the Verge reports, screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, who adapted the script from Walter Isaacson's hit biography, the film is made up of three half-hour scenes that track the famous press unveilings of the Macintosh, NeXT, and the iMac. Shooting in the Bay Area called for an audience of '80s-looking extras back in early January.
Though some names on the film have come and gone — Christian Bale was attached at one point — the final product is directed by Danny Boyle, who won the Academy Award with Slumdog Millionaire (2008). Seth Rogan stars as Steve Wozniak, Jobs' longtime friend and collaborator, and the film also includes performances from Kate Winslet and Jeff Daniels.
The "next big thing," as Apple might say, arrives October 9th.
