In an annual tradition, Ben & Jerry's is giving out free ice cream. From noon to 8 p.m. today you can head to any Ben & Jerry's scoop shop for a free cone of your choice, right before Tax Day, which may or may not make you feel any better about the money you owe the government this year.

The giveaway is an annual thing that falls sometime in April, and is actually in celebration of the founding of the company in 1979.

In San Francisco, you have your choice of four locations: Macy's basement at Union Square; 1480 Haight at Ashbury; Pier 41 at Fisherman's Wharf; or 475 Jefferson Street, also near Fisherman's Wharf.

So go get yourself some Cherry Garcia and contemplate what old Jerry Garcia would think about being immortalized in an ice cream, and about the band getting back together one last time.
