Several lanes of Highway 101 in San Francisco near Cesar Chavez Street were closed for about an hour Monday night after a distressed person threatened to jump from an overpass into the traffic below.

According to the California Highway Patrol, at 10:57 Monday night two left lanes in the northbound direction and two left lanes in the southbound direction were closed as CHP and San Francisco Police Department officers worked to talk down a person who was threatening to throw themselves off an overpass.

The officers were eventually successful is talking the suicidal person down, and the lanes were reopened by 12:15 Tuesday morning.

According to the CHP, the person was taken into custody by SFPD without incident.
