Even though the medical examiner has, remarkably, still not decided if the August death of Bryan "Feather Lynn" Higgins was a homicide, police and the Bay Area Reporter have identified a person of interest in the case. The name of the man who is not yet being called a suspect has not yet been released, but the paper says "Facebook photos of the man identified as a person of interest appear to match the man in the video footage" that was released shortly after the incident that ended in Higgins' death.
As you may recall, Higgins was found unconscious near Church and Duboce Streets on the morning of August 10, and he died in the hospital three days later. Higgins, part of the Radical Faerie community, worked at a local convenience store and was described as having some "medical issues" the night before his death. Accounts from that morning have Higgins leaving his apartment, acting erratically, and confronting people in a soup kitchen line at a nearby church. One of the individuals he was antagonizing got out of the line and allegedly chased Higgins up the street, where he ultimately hit or punched him, knocking him to the ground. Higgins suffered a brain injury from the fall and did not recover.
Video footage from a passing taxi appeared to show a man in a gray or black hoodie pushing Higgins across Church Street right before the final incident.
Police are still awaiting a final verdict from the medical examiner to determine if the case will be classified as a homicide, and the person of interest will only be identified publicly if and when he's being called a suspect.
