The SFPD announced Saturday morning that an arrest had been made in the grisly "suitcase murder" case, where dismembered body parts were found stuffed in a baggage case in SoMa on Wednesday.
Responding to an anonymous tip after the police released photos of a person of interest on Friday afternoon, SFPD detained two individuals on the 400 block of Turk Street around 7:30 p.m. According to Officer Grace Gatpandan in a statement, one of the people detained was later arrested early Saturday morning and has been identified as 59-year old Mark Andrus. He was booked on suspicion of murder.
The victim, whose remains were found in the suitcase and in a nearby trashcan on 11th Street between Market and Mission, has yet to be identified aside from being a white or light-skinned male.
