A 33-year-old man passing through a Visitacion Valley intersection was shot and killed Tuesday night in what the San Francisco Police Department says is the city's sixth homicide of 2015.

The man, who was not publicly identified by the San Francisco Medical Examiner's Office at publication time, was at the intersection of Sunnydale Avenue and Sawyer Street on Tuesday at 8:50 p.m. when a male suspect brandished a firearm.

According to the Ex, the victim attempted to drive away from the gun-wielding man, who then opened fire. The shooting set off SFPD's Shotspotter system, and emergency responders were immediately dispatched, KTVU reports.

When crews arrived, the victim was in the back seat of the car with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. He died on the way to San Francisco General Hospital.

Police have yet to release any suspect information or a possible motive for the shooting. According to KTVU, "there were multiple witnesses at the scene who are being interviewed."
