The transgender woman arrested for setting two small fires and causing minor damage to the "Mrs. Doubtfire house" plead not guilty on Friday to all the charges she's facing.
The accused, Tyqwon (or Tyquon) Welsch of Los Angeles, is a former patient of Dr. Douglas Ousterhout, a facial feminization surgeon who resides at the house on the 2600 block of Steiner Street. Welsch is alleged to have set the small fires on the doormat and garage door on Monday night. She has plead not guilty to charges including attempted murder, burglary, and making annoying or harassing phone calls. Judge Ethan P. Schulman has also ordered Welsch to stay 150 feet away from the doctor, his son, and their home and to avoid contact with the victims, reports SFBay.ca.
Elizabeth Hilton, Welsch's public defender, is encouraging the public "not to rush to judgment" about her client, and is focused on ensuring Welsch will be housed in a jail facility she would feel most safe in because of her gender identity.
Ousterhout's house was used in the 1993 Robin Williams film Mrs. Doubtfire, and has since become a local landmark for the public to memorialize his life and career since the actor's passing last year.
