Perpetually empty 18th Street restaurant Brandy Ho's is giving up the ghost after service tonight, as a tipster tells Hoodline. The Chinese/Hunan restaurant expanded to this location seven years ago from North Beach, but apparently the business, or the space (or the liquor license) has been sold, and this will likely be a Chinese place no more.

The news is not shocking given the plethora of food options in the neighborhood, including the recently very busy (and more delicious) Mama Ji's up the street, which is serving solid dim sum as well as an array of unusual Sichuan and regional Chinese dishes.

The original Brandy Ho's, now 34 years old, will remain open in North Beach.

Plans for this location at 4068 18th Street, next to the recently opened Beso, are not yet known via the new ownership. So, stay tuned.
