At this year's Outside Lands there's going to be a new food-and-performance stage that they're dubbing GastroMagic. As Inside Scoop reports, the just-added extra food stage is going to combine chef demos and talks about food and drink with live performances and comedy, including a discussion of barbecue and booze pairings led by continuously exasperated comedian Lewis Black. Also: There's a magician.

The GastroMagic stage, which is being co-produced by local app Chef's Feed, hasn't even been added to the official list of attractions — which, sadly, does not include one of my favorites of the past two Outside Lands, the Outside Lambs vendor area. There is, however, Cheeselands and Chocolands, and within the GastroMagic area there will be something called BaconLand, with bacon flights for sale.

All the seating at the small-sounding stage will be first-come, first-serve, and you may have to fight off other Top Chef fans and food whores to get a seat at Chris Cosentino's "Offal Good Music" talk on Friday, featuring an unannounced musician and him discussing "the creative process of food and music."

And if you're a semi-professional twerker, you may want to consider what will probably be GastroMagic's most awesome act: Big Freedia paired with Brenda’s French Soul Food on Saturday for a New Orleans-style brunch in which the best twerkers will win prizes in the form of beignets. The full lineup is below, with times still TBA.

Outside Lands starts next Friday, August 8, and the festival sold out quicker than ever this year. Thus people are commanding top dollar ($400) for 3-day passes right now on Craigslist, though there are still better deals to be had too.
