What is going on with San Francisco's grocery stores, people? On the same day that a security guard was stabbed at the Haight Street Whole Foods, a woman with a knife set fire to the Mission Foods Co.
According to San Francisco Police Department spokesperson Officer Albie Esparza, 24-year-old Shaun Lavell Jones, a transgender woman, walked into the Foods Co. grocery store on Folsom Street between 14th and 15th Streets at around 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Esparza says that Jones then dumped lighter fluid on the store's floor, all while waving a knife in a threatening fashion.
She then, Esparza says, set the floor on fire, causing a blaze that sent two Foods Co. security guards to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Both are expected to recover.
The San Francisco Fire Department swiftly extinguished the flames, and police arrested Jones. She's since been booked into San Francisco County Jail on burglary and arson charges.
