Well-compensated Niners quarterback Colin Kaepernick will not face any charges related to a suspicious incident that allegedly occurred in Miami back in April. According to the State Attorney's office in Miami-Dade county, there was insufficient evidence that any crime occurred at an apartment shared by Kaepernick and Seahawks receiver Ricardo Lockette.
At the time, a woman who had a previously relationship with Kaepernick said she remembered drinking and smoking pot in the apartment, but went to lay down when she began to feel light-headed. She claimed Kaepernick undressed her and then left the room, but the next thing she remember was waking up in a hospital with no knowledge of how she got there.
Although the incident was initially reported as a sexual assault, no assault charges were ever filed and both Kaepernick and Lockette were investigated for what authorities simply referred to as "a suspicious incident." Kaepernick also said he did not commit any crime.
“No charges, no indication that a criminal act was committed,” Ed Griffith of the State Attorney’s office said. “She was alleging that she may have been the victim of a sexual assault, and there was no evidence.”
Earlier this month, the Niners gave Kaepernick a record $126 million, six-year contract.
