Early Monday at around 2:30 a.m. two women driving in a Lexus on Folsom slammed into the side of Joey & Pat's Bakery at the intersection of 21st Street. The driver and her companion decided not to stick around to see how the cops felt about the run-in.
According to witnesses, the two women ditched the car with its exploded airbags. Police believe at least one of the women may have been injured in the accident and were searching local hospitals for leads. There was no one in the bakery at the time and no other injuries were reported.
Across the bay in downtown Oakland, another driver fled the scene of an accident after striking another car near the intersection of 17th Street and Telegraph around 2 a.m. The driver lost control of their Nissan and slammed into Bar Dogwood, an upscale joint for cocktails and cured meats. Five people — two men and three women — were spotted fleeing the scene on foot. The inside of the car was covered in blood and Dogwood was left with a mess of shattered marble, broken glass and motor oil to clean up.
