In local ice cream purveyor news, Tamara Palmer (Zagat) has word about Humphry Slocombe's newest location, this one inside the hallowed Ferry Building. The bare bones shop opened on Wednesday. Humphry Slocombe is noted for their series of signature wacky flavors, like Ancho Chilies, Corn, Elvis the Fat Years, Government Cheese, and... Chocolate. This makes location No. 2 for Jake Godby and Sean Vahey. (The first one can be found at 2790A Harrison.)
But if you're looking for an ice cream shop with the GREATEST flavor title of all time? That would go to Three Twins. Next week Mayor Ed Lee will help pave the way, via a ribbon-cutting ceremony, for Two Tops Don't Make a Bottom (truer words, three Twins, truer words) and other new flavors when the shop finally celebrates its (January) reopening. TTDMAB boasts vanilla ice cream with chunks of muffin tops; though we suspect the name is derived from something else altogether. We're told owner Neal Gottlieb he came up with the flavor and name to celebrate Pride a few years ago. And now it's back. So to speak.
Look for the introduction of Three Twins' TTDMAB on Sunday (3/16) and Burnt Caramel on Saturday (3/15). Look for Mayor Lee's cameo on Tuesday (3/11) at 3 PM.
