A 53 year old San Francisco man has been arrested for the robbery of a Mission District bank on Monday, just blocks from the scene of the crime.

According to SFPD spokesperson Officer Albie Esparza, at around 3:30 on Monday, Fernando Sylvestry walked into a bank (probably the Wells Fargo) on the 2500 block of Mission Street (which is near 22nd), and handed a teller a note demanding money,

The teller, a 27-year-old woman, then gave Sylvestry an undisclosed amount of cash. He then fled the scene on foot, Esparza said.

On Tuesday at around 2 PM, Mission District officers recognized Sylvestry from bank surveillance video of the crime as he was walking on the 2200 block of Mission Street (which is near 18th).

Esparza says Sylvestry was arrested without incident, and has been booked on suspicion of burglary, robbery and narcotics charges.
