As if going to a) a football game at b) the very windy Candlestick Park (RIP) wasn't a harrowing notion itself, the 49ers have urged their most loyal fans to brave freezing temperatures to attend Sunday's playoff game in —get this—Wisconsin. Brr.

It seems the chill in the air has put off many a pigskin fan, so they're having trouble selling seats. It's being reported that Sunday's wild card game could be the chilliest in NFL history. Further and far worse, this means that the cold temperatures could give Green Bay an edge. Minneapolis Star Tribune reports: "Temperatures will be in the single digits and dropping when the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers kick off Sunday afternoon. Maybe the teeth-chattering cold will give the Packers an edge to snap a three-game skid against San Francisco."

For the record, the coldest NFL game ever happened on Dec. 31, 1967 at Lambeau Field during the "The Ice Bowl" between the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys. According to Deadspin, "If the temperature at Sunday's game drops below -4 degrees, it will crack the top five on the list of coldest games in NFL history."

Good lord. That sounds fun/miserable. Good luck, Niners fans.

Speaking of, not all players have the clear minds and/or full hearts to play in any type of weather. Take, for example, Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco who, just last January, described the idea of playing the 2014 NY/NJ Super Bowl at the MetLife Stadium as "retarded." The stadium, it seems, doesn't have a retractable dome. Lucky for him, he and his team won't have to worry about playing in the Super Bowl this season.
