San Francisco police have booked a 16-year-old male on charges of murder and attempted robbery following the December 14th killing of Clifton Chatman, also 16, on Alemany Boulevard.
According to investigators, Chatman and the suspect were both part of a group that approached an individual walking alone on Alemany and demanded his cell phone. That's when things got ugly:
According to the SFPD release:
The victim offered no resistance and was complying with the robbery suspect’s demands when the armed suspect shot the robbery victim. The shot glanced off the victim’s face and struck one of the robbery suspects, killing him.
The other suspects fled the scene, leaving the wounded robbery victim and the deceased robbery suspect, later identified as Chatham. The robbery victim was taken to the hospital where he survived his injuries.
The suspect will not be publicly identified because he is a juvenile offender.
