Well, this is downright delightful. A new Twitter account, @OldSanFrancisco, tweets black-and-white images of ye olde San Francisco. So far they've got images of Stockton Street in Chinatown (1951), South of Market ('52), Golden Gate Bridge (62), a police standoff during robbery of Old Poodle Dog Restaurant on Post Street ('57), San Francisco Airport ('64), and more.
A pretty nifty era in the City, provided you weren't black, female, queer, Chinese, or somewhat different in a myriad of ways. But SF did have a middle class back then, so that's something!
Anyway here are several images to warm up your Friday afternoon. Enjoy. (Oh, and follow @OldSanFrancisco now.)
