In four separate incidents in different parts of Oakland on Sunday, five people were shot and injured and several more were injured in a vehicle accident in which they were being shot at by another vehicle.

As the Oakland Tribune reports, it was quite the day for gunplay across the Bay, beginning at 4:26 p.m. when a 24-year-old woman and her 22-year-old boyfriend were shot as they drove in a car on Weld Street in East Oakland. They were both transported to the hospital by ambulance but their conditions are not known.

At 7:20 p.m., a group of people in a vehicle in East Oakland were chased and shot at until they crashed their car near Bancroft and Dutton Avenues in San Leandro. Several had minor injuries from the crash but don't appear to have sustained any gunshot wounds.

Then around 8 p.m. a woman was shot at 28th and West Streets in West Oakland, and she transported herself to the hospital. She was said to be in stable condition.

And then at 8:22 p.m., two 17-year-old boys were shot while driving in a vehicle on the 6800 block of Bancroft Avenue in East Oakland.

None of the shootings are thought to be related, although three of the incidents happened within a couple of hours in the same vicinity of East Oakland.

Sunday's violence followed on the shooting of a two-year-old boy by a stray bullet in a drive-by that occurred Friday afternoon on the 9200 block of Sunnyside Avenue, near 95th Avenue, in East Oakland. The boy, Diante Johnson, sustained critical injuries after the bullet went through his liver.
