Well, that was quick. New gold and white iPhone 5S models sold out at the Union Square Apple Store within a matter of minutes. The line for the Stockton Street store started forming last night, and according to Chantal Reisman, the man pictured above scored the only gold phone. "Only one iPhone 5S in gold was available, and he got it." Only one?! If that's the case, that is some straight-up Willy Wonka golden ticket tomfoolery right there, Apple. But we're not sure that's the case.
According to Matt Galligan, "[e]very gold iPhone 5s called for at SF Stockton St Apple Store by 5:45am. This thing is hot." So, you know, it sounds like they had more. Nevertheless, if you want a gold iPhone 5S, you probably won't find one. Additional gold phones were also available at the Chestnut Street store, but sold out right-quick.
The AT&T Store on Market and Third (425 Market) also sold out of the gold iPhone 5S this morning. SFist spoke with a customer service rep who explained that the golden iPhone was that "China was able to preorder before we were, so they ordered all the gold iPhones."
As for when they might restock the coveted gold iPhone? She adds: "We probably won't get any until late October. They're very limited." You also won't be able to find one online this month.
