As they are wont to do on their homepage, SFGate has spotlighted a fluff piece about a far-flung corner of the Bay Area, namely that shining bastion of suburban dystopia known as Walnut Creek. Why today, you ask? Because they're apparently killing it over there when it comes to "gourmet" ice cream and fro-yo.
Yes, there is a place that has s'mores ice cream with house-made marshmallows in it that "melt like butter on the tongue." And there is a place that makes wacky flavors like rose cardamom pistachio. Also, there is a place called Olde San Francisco Creamery. There are, in fact, 10 ice cream or gelato shops all within a three minute walk of each other.
"The ice cream and gelato scene just gets better and better here every year," crows one "longtime resident." "Why would you want to go anywhere else?" he asks.
We can think of a few reasons.
