The good news is that the Morgan Fire over on Mount Diablo is pretty well under control as of today, and firefighters are saying they should have it all snuffed out by the weekend. As of today, they're saying the fire is 70 percent contained, and that number may be higher by tonight or tomorrow.

The good/bad news is that someone is going to have to pay for this blaze, and it was almost positively caused by a human, possibly by a gunshot. Investigators are currently concentrating on a burned area near the corner of Morgan Territory and Marsh Creek roads, as the Chron reports, which they say is where the fire began on Sunday afternoon.

Some neighbors have said they heard gunshots in the vicinity, like target practice, right before the fire was first reported at 1:15 Sunday afternoon, but investigators say that is just one of many possibilities they're examining. It could just as easily have been from a cigarette butt thrown from a car window. There's a pretty good chance they'll find the culprit, too, as more than half of the people responsible for wildfires are generally caught.

Update: As of Thursday morning it is now 90 percent contained.
