Have you looked outside? It's downright glorious. And yet there you are, still inside and working for The Man. While you wait for the clock to strike 5, here are some choice events/things to do during the impending three-day weekend.
Oakland Gay Pride/Vogue Ball
If the exclusivity and tourist-trappings of San Francisco Gay Pride proved too much to bear, might we recommend heading across the Bay for Oakland Gay Pride? Specifically, we strongly recommend the Werq Vogue Ball at the New Parish this Saturday. (If you don't know what voguing is, behold.)
Check Out The Outer Sunset
Hurry, before it gets ruined by a hyperlocal-microhood name! Billed as the next Divisadero (or Ulloa!), Judah between 45th and 46th has Outerlands, Trouble Coffee, and this fun-and-pretty shit store (thing $7 succulents and Levis found at thrift town but marked up) called General Store. There's also a tattoo place, Tuesday Tattoo, who does great work, as well as a nearby hipster chiropractor. Also, Carville Annex, some sort of art/"art"/bookstore is cool if, you know, you like the smell of books, et al. Nearby Noriega has Pizza Place, Toyose (which some say is the best Korean food in SF), and Flanahan's Pub, a tiny and legit divey bar.
Dolores Park
Heaps of regular attendees will be smoking doobies in the desert. Slap on some SPF, grab a blanket, and head over to Dolores Park. (Clothing-optional on the Fruit Shelf.)
Go To The River
Everyone seems to be heading to Russian River this weekend. Color us jealous.
Wreck-It Ralph In The Park
Saunter over to the Redwood Heights Recreation Center in Oakland to see Wreck-It Ralph. So much better than Brave! (Check other movies in the park while you're at it.)
Go To A Popular Restaurant
As Marcia Gagliardi (Tablehopper) recommends in 7x7, "Since so many people will be out of town—or hosting their own cookout—it’s a great time to land a table at a hotspot. A quick peek at OpenTable shows two-tops available at prime time at always-busy places like A16, Aziza, and Bar Tartine, or you can check out newcomer The Cavalier."
Free Hot Dog In The Inner Richmond
Frankenart Mart will be give the hot beef (and veggie) injections from 1-6 pm on Sunday.
