Around 9:30 a.m. this morning, an articulated Muni bus crashed into the side of a double decker, open top tour bus in front of 101 California Street in the Financial District. Photographer Jonathan Haggard was there to capture this morning's bus-on-bus mayhem.
The quick-thinking Haggard, who was on his way to work at the time, managed to snap a shot from the driver's seat before being dragged off the bus by the Muni operator in question. (Disclaimer: SFist can't condone interfering with the scene of a traffic accident.)
Although Muni tends to get a bad rap, local tour bus companies have been experiencing a spate of unfortunate PR lately. Earlier this month another tour bus caught fire in the Financial District. Last month four seniors were injured when an open top bus snagged on some overhead wires. Also in July: a driver for San Francisco Deluxe Sightseeing was charged with a DUI after he was seen "struggling to steer" and spotted with a bottle of brandy near the driver's seat.
