Violence in East Oakland shows no signs of abatement after a 23-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were shot Thursday night while sitting a parked car in the 800 block of 100th Avenue near Pippin Street. The woman was killed, the man critically injured.

"Police said the pair were sitting in a parked rental car when someone on foot opened fire on the vehicle from outside before fleeing," reports Oakland Tribune. "The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man, who police said lived in the area, was in critical condition Friday at a hospital."

The gunfire occurred at around 11:35 pm. Both victims were reportedly friends. No arrests have been made.
