Just after 7 p.m. last night a small grass fire broke out in Golden Gate Park behind the Conservatory of Flowers and quickly spread to some surrounding vegetation near the street at Fulton and Third Avenue. Meanwhile, across town a second fire broke out at 7:30 p.m. on Bernal Hill.
A spokeswoman for the San Francisco Fired Department tells SFist that the fire was not threatening any structures, but the department is still awaiting a final report to determine whether any foul play or mischief may have been involved. We will, of course, update if/when we know more.
Meanwhile, across town on Bernal Hill as second grass fire broke out around 7:30 p.m. next to a dry, burned patch left from a fire on the 4th of July. One neighbor attempted to put it out with a small fire extinguisher, but two SFFD fire rigs arrived to quickly extinguish the hillside fire. Joe Thomas has video:
