Robbie "MoPo" Kowal has been a San Francisco resident since 1997. Co-founder/owner of SunsetSF, Kowal has had a hand in more than 1,000 concerts, festivals and club nights in the Bay Area including the Sea of Dreams NYE, Ghost Ship Halloween, SF Funk Fest, and North Beach Jazz. He has toured as a DJ under the moniker Motion Potion and has probably played every club in San Francisco at some point. An activist for arts/political issues, Kowal was founder of the SF Outdoor Events Coalition and is a board member of the California Music and Culture Association.
He is also one of the nation’s foremost purveyors of the “Silent Disco” concept, and his Silent team routinely brings headphone concerts to the far corners of the earth. Check him out on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or at his website. But first, here’s Robbie’s ideal San Francisco, told in his own words.
