Blues/rock singer Lester Chambers, 73, cofounder of the Chambers Brothers, was attacked onstage at a concert in Hayward on Sunday shortly after dedicating a song to Trayvon Martin. While performing at the Hayward Russell City Blues Festival, the musician honored the slain teen with a rendition of Curtis Mayfield's "People Get Ready." In the middle of the song, however, Dinalynn Andrews-Potter jumped on stage and starting attacked the Chambers.
"I saw anger and for the short time I did see her she just came, 'You mother fucker, you started this.' Boom! And I was down," he explained to KPIX. After falling down, the woman began attacking Chambers until several band members tackled her to the ground to make a citizen's arrest.

Chambers suffered a "bruised rib muscle and nerve damage and he is sore all over," according to his son. This photo of Chambers sporting a large welt on his back was posted online over the weekend.
"She had a crazed look in her eye," Kurt Kangas, a friend of Chambers, told The Contra Costa Times. "I saw the devil there.
Andrews-Potter, who reportedly refused to speak with authorities, was cited and released. A Facebook page urging for police to charge her with a hate crime has already popped up.
In related news, shortly after George Zimmerman was acquitted for killing 17-year-old Martin, Beyonce called for a moment of silence during a performance at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, followed by a rendition of "I Will Always Love You."
