A construction worker died this morning after falling down an elevator shaft at the new 49ers new Santa Clara Levis Stadium. According to the Chron, the man in his 60s. He died at around 6:45 am.
The accident happened at the construction site at Tasman Drive and Centennial Boulevard. According to CBS SF: "Santa Clara city spokesman Dan Beerman said it appears the person was working in the bottom of an elevator shaft when another worker “took a car down the shaft” and inadvertently crushed the victim."
After the fatality, Beerman went on to say, "Everybody’s walking around here in a daze." Shortly after the accident a meeting was called outside of the stadium.
The name of the fallen worker has yet to be identified.
