Behold this lovely, contemplative trip through town, set to early 80s pop hits on the radio, featuring vintage footage of Broadway in North Beach and the Embarcadero Freeway in 1984. Some things still look the same (Enrico's, which is now Naked Lunch), and some things, like Vanessi's and the freeway itself, are long gone.
What's coolest about it is how there's barely any talking amongst the passengers, there's just footage, first of the drive up to the Bay Bridge, and then of the trip back across the bridge from Oakland, all featuring billboards, music, and cars of the time. It's kind of like the videographer knew this would be a fascinating document for us thirty years later. [Hat tip: Chad Fox]
