Local artist Wendy Macnaughton's latest work is a collaboration with author Caroline Paul and their missing cat Tibia. When Tibia went missing for five weeks, Wendy and Caroline used everything from a GPS tracking unit to live kitty cams to psychics in order to discover what sort of secret life he led on the streets of San Francisco. The result is this map of San Francisco, as seen by a precocious feline and imagined by his whimsical caretakers.
The book, which includes the story of Tibia's prodigal journey and illustrated instructions on how to track your own cat, is called Lost Cat: A True Story of Love, Desperation and GPS Technology. Human pet owners/booklovers who can bring themselves to step into the "Fright" section of the map can meet Wendy and Caroline in person at the book launch party at Booksmith on Haight, April 9th.
