Wicked, the Wizard of Oz-inspired Broadway musical, is returning to S.F. next week, with a four-week run from January 23 to February 17. During this run, they'll be doing a daily lottery for $25 rush tickets, for which anyone is eligible if they show up at the Orpheum box office (8th and Market).
Here's the deal: You have to get there two and a half hours before the performance, so that would be 5:30 p.m. for a normal weeknight or weekend night performance, or 11:30 a.m. for a matinee (5 p.m. for Sunday night shows, which start at 7:30.) You put your name in a lottery drum, and then a half hour later, the box office will draw names, and each person is eligible for two tickets at $25 apiece.
It's a pretty good deal, given that the seats could be quite good and premium orchestra tickets are going for $275 ($140 for regular orchestra).
