San Francisco Police investigating two attempted bank robberies from last Friday afternoon are on the hunt for a comfy bank robber who apparently just wanted to keep his feet warm in a pair of fuzzy boots preferred by 15-to-24-year-old girls everywhere. Not even his Australian sheepskin boots could keep him from getting cold feet about the robbery, however: In both incidents, the would-be bandit handed the bank teller a note demanding money, but fled the scene before the teller returned.
The first incident occurred around 1:45 p.m. Friday afternoon at a bank branch on the 1200 block of Market Street near Tenth Street, Bay City News reports. After fleeing the scene, the suspect apparently turned up 20 minutes later at at bank branch at Pine and Front Street in the Financial District. The suspect descriptions vary slightly from the two branches, but in both cases cops are looking for a 5-foot-4 or -5 white dude, about 30-35 years old wearing a striped hoodie and the aforementioned Uggs or Ugg-like knockoffs. No word yet on if he completed the look with a pair of tights as pants.
No one was harmed in either incident, but both robbery attempts come after two successful bank robberies last Thursday — one apparently at the same bank at Market and Tenth Street and another on the 200 block of Valencia Street near Duboce Ave. SFPD attributes both Thursday robberies to one criminal mastermind, but they have yet to make a connection to the flubbed Friday incidents.
Anyhow, if you see a diminutive white dude in his early thirties wearing Uggs and a striped hoodie, you should first report him to the fashion police.
