While the East Bay city has, as far as we know, been able to stave off any murders in 2013, Oakland played host to their final attempted murder of 2012 on New Year's Eve. Police were sent to the 2500 block of East 16th Street at around 6 p.m. on Tuesday. When they arrived, they discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim, whose name has yet to be released, is in stable condition. According to Oakland Tribune, "three suspects armed with guns were seen fleeing the area in an unidentified vehicle."
