Changes to our waterfront architecture are rapidly taking shape in preparation for the America's Cup races in 2014, beginning with Phase 1 of the demolition and rebuild of Pier 27. Behold, via the Port, this new rendering of the upcoming James R. Herman Cruise Terminal, set for completion in early 2014.

To clarify, Pier 27 is the large, triangular-shaped pier just past Levi's Plaza and Pier 23, where Lombard hits Embarcadero. It's currently home to that huge building where they store the Bauer shuttle buses and vans, which is getting demolished by March.

Below is another view of the cruise ship terminal, and here you can see the pier from a distance as it will look when complete. Phase 1 construction, which will include the core and shell construction for the building, will be complete by mid-2013.

It's attractive, no?
