Sad news. Esteemed anchor, journalist, and penis sculptor Dana King, 52, will leave her anchor desk at KPIX effective this week. "I've kind of been living my life in two worlds," said King. "I'm certainly proud of my achievements in journalism, but I also have this passion for my art. I guess it just came down to which world I wanted to be in at this point in my life."
King arrived at KPIX in 1997. Her last day will be on Friday. To which we say: why!? WHY? We love la King. She's the Bay Area's own silver fox, she delivers the news during the witching hour with a soothing yet firm on-air tone, and hers was the highest paid salary in Bay Area anchordom (pulling in somewhere around $800,000 a year). However, according to Rich Lieberman, who broke the story, "There's been growing tension between her and the news director." So that could also explain her decision (?) to vacate the coveted gig.
And with that, for now we leave you with King's impressive art pieces. Godspeed, Dana. Godspeed.
